I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Most of my research centers on evolutionary and economic explanations of cooperation. My dissertation focuses on participation in cooperative finance in West Kalimantan, Indonesia and the transition from local informal cooperatives such as kongsi and arisan to formal banking institutions (e.g. Bank Rakyat Indonesia).
